Preservation Hall Jazz Band
Throughout its history, New Orleans has been the point at which sounds and cultures from around the world converge, mingle, resurface, and transform. Nowhere is that idea more vividly embodied than in the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which has held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for more than 60 years, all the while carrying it enthusiastically forward as a reminder that the history they were founded to preserve is vibrantly living history. To reconnect with musicians post-Covid, PHJB band leader Ben Jaffe began recording with them to document this momentous occasion. The result is a collection of reimagined classic New Orleans Jazz Songbook arrangements. Ben's hope and goal is to have the world know about both the band he helmed on the road and the more than 40 musicians who span three generations and represent the lifeblood of New Orlean's culture and songbook. Now a mainstay of the Greenwich Town Party line-up, PHJB will anchor this year's "Preservation Hall SuperJam," a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration of the best New Orleans music, specially co-curated by Ben Jaffe, including orchestrations from his new songbook along with other surprises. "This year's GTP will be even more musically immersive across every genre that makes New Orleans so unique and endearing," said Ben. "Let The Good Times Roll!"
